  • June 14: Regional Council - Pays de la Loire

The Pays de la Loire Region is proud to have been the first French region to build a Hôtel de Région.
Today's decentralization is the fruit of a gradual process that has enabled local authorities to gain in autonomy and powers. It was Olivier Guichard, former minister under General de Gaulle and President of the Region, who drove force behind the construction of this building, following the Deferre 1982 decentralization laws.
The Hôtel de Région is symbolically located in Nantes, the regional capital, and between two arms of the river that gives the territory its name. Indeed, it is the Loire and its tributaries (Mayenne, Sarthe, Maine) that have carried part of the region's destiny, from Anjou and its inland regions to the ocean and its maritime adventures.

Hôtel de la région
1 rue de la Loire
